All our circuits in northern Patagonia
TRANSHUMANCE, that is the word which flows in the Gaucho's veins, the one which characterized this millenial way of life.
The winter camp is "el campo de invernada", it's located in a valley between 800 and 1200m high, protected from snow it shelters the family farm and elaborated installations (houses, shed, electricity, cultivated fiels, etc.).
The summer camp is "el campo de veranada", between November and April, between 1500 and 2500m high, we watch over the herds up in the mountain. Far away in the Andes, there are a few roads, little traffic, a ranch of stones close to a water source, a lonely Gaucho by the fireside. This trip between the two "campos" is called "trashumancia", it lasts between 2 and 20 days, on the mules there is all the necessary, only the essential.
It's the trip YOU dream about, so we give you a ride on our culture's tracks, our horse ridings are expeditions, in total harmony with our nature.
We have prepared 3 circuits, each of them is aimed at riders who are not experts, but educated enough to handle the reins; knowing how to change gear, from walking pace to trot. You have to be especially conscious of the animal and to have confidence in it. Certainly there are gallops, but nobody is forced to take part, the horses are very independent.
Every circuit's got its own character, they travel through the summer camps located between the volcanoes Domuyo (4709m, north), Tromen (4114m, east) and Caicayén Mount (2289m, south).
Travel arrangements are always the same: 2 to 6 riders per group, 6 hours per day on a horse, nights in tents, gauchos as guides and an interpreter, mules to carry your bags and everything, cooking on fire, organic meats and vegetables, fresh cheese and bread, etc! There is something important which distinguishes the circuits: landscapes! That's why some riders come back 2 or 3 times to enhance their immersion in our culture!
Some advices when choosing your destination:
